About the Artist & Handmade Pottery

Artist Anna Fadeley Top-O-Tater Pottery - Anna Fadeley makes hand-formed and decorated functional stoneware pottery in southern Vermont. Her work is found in homes and collections throughout the United States. Anna designs and produces the blue & white stoneware pottery herself. Each piece is handmade, either on a potter's wheel or from a slab of clay molded around a form. The uncomplicated shapes provide a wonderful surface for the delicate cobalt oxide blue & white brushwork decorations, which has been influenced by American Crewel, Norwegian Rosemaling and Indian Bead Work. The cobalt designs are painted individually, without patterns, on the unfired clay. After the brushwork designs are fired onto each pot, they are then dipped in a lead-free glaze and fired again to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.

This handmade pottery is stoneware, therefore it is very durable, but like all stoneware pottery, care should be taken in its use - always bring stoneware up to temperature gradually, and never use over an open flame or directly on a hot burner, as this may cause the pottery to crack.

In addition to the truly beautiful visual appeal of Anna's pottery creations, the stoneware is also oven-proof, dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and lead-free.
